True North
This is a relatively new place we stopped in for lunch the other day. Big wide open space and central bar pretty inviting in the middle of the day, excellent beer selection on draft, maybe 25 or 30 selections. Whatever I drank was 8% alcohol, so I don’t remember too many details except that my house burger was excellent and they had a lot of TVs, so this would be a great place to watch football on Sundays.
Now we haven’t been drinking here on weekend nights, and there’s some debate about what the place is like then. Here’s one of the more eloquent blurbs from their listing on Yelp!:
4 star rating
4/10/2009The culture war brewing over this place is actually pretty entertaining to watch. I think it boils down to this: If you are over 30 (and comfortable with that fact), you will like this place. It’s clean, spacious, comfortable, and relaxed. If you are under 30, you will either love it or hate it. And who hates it? Well, the hipsters of course. And you know what? That’s okay! You don’t have to like it! What bugs me the most is that the people giving one star reviews seem to think they have some sort of “ownership” over North Park. Well, sorry, but most of the homeowners in North Park are actually over 30 and enjoy a place where they can relax, order some food, have a beer, watch some sports, and actually hear what the person sitting next to them is trying to say.
